Discover and Define: Design Thinking in Five Hours

Workshop one of the five-workshop design thinking programme kicked of with a workshop where teams started to discover and define the design challenge at hand. In this post i show what techniques i used to help groups discover the challenge and then work together to create How Might We statements that open up the design challenge into opportunities

The Camden Challenge: Design Thinking in five hours

Creating a design challenge is key when using design thinking. In this post i take inspiration from IDEO in how to create and write a design challenge that excites and energises teams to solve the problem.

The rules are too:

  1. Keep it simple and optimistic
  2. Write a brief as if you were handing it to someone else to design
  3. Capture thoughts on why it is a problem
  4. Show the opportunity for design

Process and design: Design Thinking in Five Hours

In this post i share how i designed a process for a set of design thinking workshops i am running at 20.20. Taking inspiration from IDEO i adapted their process and created a structure that allowed the workshops to be an our long and finish with a prototype after five workshops. The aim of the workshops is for us as a company to challenge the way we tackle problems and to learn to build something that we are proud of after only five hours.
